13,149 Days on Earth with Gratitude.
Birthdays give us the opportunity to reflect on life's journey. For the scriptures admonishes us to number our days that we may apply our hearts to wisdom. As I cross the line to my late 30s today, I want to express gratitude to those God placed in strategic junctions of my life to help me. I'm convinced that the greatest blessing a young man can have in this life is to have people, orchestrated by divinity, intervene at strategic junctions of his journey through life.
To my mum, thank you for being my gateway to this beautiful world, for your many sacrifices, and the priceless values you instilled in me.
To my dad (late but alive in my heart) thank you for showing me what it takes to be a man. You believed in my dreams. You did everything to give me a good education. I'm eternally grateful.
To my elder sister, Mercy Dania. You became a defcto mother to me from day one. You placed your university education on hold so you can sponsor mine. Thank you for your sacrificial love. I hope I become someone you can be proud of making such huge sacrifices for.
To my elder brother Femi Adoko, thank you for the fatherly role you play in my life, and for the many ways you inconvenienced yourself just to make sure my life turns out better. I'm grateful.
To my brother, Dennis Dania, thank you for always being a big brother, and the many attacks you shielded me from.
To my cousin, Mrs. Gloria Arogunyo, thank you for your undying interest in me and being instrumental to my coming to Abuja. I'm grateful.
To Godwin Ogbaji, thank you for being instrumental to my university admission, for allowing me to stay at your bunk, making sure I don't derail in school, and for the encouragements.
To Target Enaifoghe, thank you for allowing me to squat with you when I had no place to stay in Abuja, and the warmth you provided.
To Solomon Adodo, thank you for providing a roof over my head in Abuja when I couldn't afford one, and for constantly reminding me that my hustle is valid.
To Adebimpe Adeboye, thank you for the many opportunities you introduced me to, and the emotional investment. I'm grateful.
To Dr. Otive Igbuzor, thank you for believing in my abilities, for giving me the opportunity to learn and earn when you had no reason to, and for being a worthy model I can emulate. I'm grateful.
To Mr. Monday Osasah, thank you for developing my mental muscle by giving me tasks that I thought I couldn't do. You believed in my capability to do them. I'm still benefiting from the assignment you gave me in 2012
To Godswill Omale and Godwin Ochiheche, thank you for welcoming me into your family house when I could no longer afford accomodation in my final year at UAM. I appreciate your friendship.
To Edwin Ufademe, thank you for making my childhood memorable, and performing best man duties at my wedding even though I didn't pre-inform you. You're a friend that sticks closer than a brother!
To my wife, Ruby. Like a bakers yeast, you came into my life and everything changed for good. I knew since 2008 that you're the missing puzzle piece needed to make my life complete. Just that it took you 8 years to realize it. But thank God we now have a lifetime to flex.
And to the many other persons whose kind words, actions or prayers contributed to my life's progress thus far, thank you.
I know I can't repay you. I hope to replicate your kindness in someone's else life.
Looking forward to doing a longer list when I turn 40.
