Why WHO Should Not Discourage People from Trying New Medications to Combat COVID-19. I will like to express my opinion on the awareness campaign of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) discouraging people from using local medications and drug mixtures to combat the coronavirus pandemic on the basis that there is no known scientific evidence for such mixtures or drugs to cure or prevent people from contracting the virus. I understand the advice that we should follow the instructions of health authorities in dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic, but in my opinion, this particular advice should be given with exemptions. According to WHO and other health authorities, the COVID-19 virus is novel, meaning it is a new strain in the Coronavirus family that the scientific community does not know much about.
